Panera

Today we learned about financial reports. I analyzed a report on Panera. Panera has improved operations remaining central in their efforts to enhance their competitive position. In 2014, they added more cafe staff and upgraded equipment, such as kitchen display systems, to improve order execution and increase throughput, especially at lunch. the increased focus on process disciplines has also improved speed and accuracy, which is crucial as customization grows. "About 70% of all Panera 2.0 orders are already modified in some way."

Enron Scandal

Enron was an American energy company based in Huston, Texas. Enron shareholders filed a $40 billion lawsuit after the company's stock price, which at its highest was up to US $90.75 per share in mid 2000, then dropped to less than $1 by the end of November in 2001.  Many years later, when Jeffrey Skilling was hired, he developed a staff of executives and poor financial reporting were able to hide billions of dollars in debt from failed deals and projects.

The Business of Saving Trees

On the website Frontline I read an article called Mexico: The Business of Saving Trees. This article talked about what you can do to save the trees. It is a great role model for everyone to help the planet. They talked about raking leaves and what businesses help the earth. i didn't know that carbon trading was a hot commodity, or that the  Mexican government declared the Sierra Gorda region a protected area 11 years ago.   i would like to learn more about the Sierra Gorda.

Scavenger Hunt

In class we went outside for a business scavenger hunt. My partner was Kendall. By having a partner we had two sets of eyes to look for things instead of just one. This made it quicker and more fun. While I was looking for the items I had to find something that turned things into other things and I took a picture of a recycling bin and I recycle in my daily life.
